TELLING STORIES
Scrambled Eggs
you used to sign our weekly letters xoxo
but that disease made you forget
you used to make me scrambled eggs in the morning
but that disease made you forget
you used to feed the birds with me in the afternoon
but that disease made you forget
you used to let me dance on your toes in the evening
but that disease made you forget
simple things like brushing your teeth or making your tea. that horrible ugly disease made you forget
but grandad, i will never forget. your kindness and compassion and beaming happiness that you gifted me for those far too few years is forever tattooed on my heart. i will never forget.
and though you may forget my name or your age or how to use a fork, you are still the same kind, compassionate, and beaming person that has shaped me into who i am today.
i will love you always and i will never forget.
